FAQ
Can one Virtual Dedicated Server client access the files of another?
No. Each Virtual Dedicated Server runs isolated of all others. No customer can possibly access
the files from another customer.
Can one Virtual Dedicated Server's performance be affected by another?
At
ServerPoint.com, no. We allocate a share of the server's CPU and RAM to each Virtual Dedicated Server,
and we make sure that the server is never utilized to 100% capacity. Thus, even if one Virtual Dedicated Server,
or several, utilize 100% of their share of the server, the server would still have enough capacity for all
other clients.
What software does ServerPoint.com use to manage Virtual Private Dedicated servers?
We use Parallel's
Virtuozzo, the leading virtual server software
in the industry. It is extremely stable and it is the most efficient at managing a server's resources.
Do I have full control over a Virtual Dedicated Server
Yes. You have full root access to the server. You have the ability to modify configuration files,
install programs, and more. The only thing you can't do is change the operating system's kernel,
since the kernel is managed by
Virtuozzo.
What kind of management do I get with Virtuozzo?
Virtuozzo provides you with statistics on how your VPS is performing, memory and CPU usage, and more.
See our
Virtuozzo article for more information and screenshots.
Are Virtual Dedicated Servers environmentally friendly?
Yes. Many facilities, like ours, host thousands of servers for clients of dedicated server services.
Unfortunately, only about 5-10% percent of these server's capacity is utilized, wasting power and creating heat.
With Virtual Dedicated Servers, several "virtual" servers share one single physical server, better
utlizing its resources.
