Transferring a domain name

Restrictions on transferring a domain name

A domain name may not be transferred from one registrar to another if any of the following conditions occur:

  1. The domain was registered less than 60 days ago;
  2. The domain was transferred to a new registrar less than 60 days ago;
  3. The domain is locked;
  4. The domain is involved in a dispute proceeding or a court order prevents the domain from being transferred.
  5. The domain is in a redemption period (see our document Domain name expiration and renewals for more information).

How to transfer a domain name to ServerPoint

Please log in to the registrar where you currently manage your domain. There, you will need to "unlock" the domain as well as obtain a transfer authorization code.

Before doing so, please make sure that all your contact information related to such domain name is accurate.

Once you do this, you may log in to our Client Portal and initiate a transfer.

How to transfer a domain name from ServerPoint to another registrar

Please log in to our Client Portal and proceed to the domain name's management interface. There, please "unlock" the domain name and obtain a transfer authorization code. You will need that code at the new registrar in order to complete the transfer.

Unlocking a domain

You may unlock a domain via our Client Portal. Be aware that this is risky and should only be done when you are about to transfer a domain name to another registrar.

Undoing a domain transfer

If you accidentally transferred a domain name, or you believe someone authorized has transferred your domain name, please open a ticket with our staff right away. Please log in to our Client Portal to initiate a ticket.

Cost of transferring a domain name

If you have a domain at a registrar other than ServerPoint, you may transfer it to us for just the minimum price of one term of that domain extension.

For a list of all domain name prices and their renewal fees, please visit ServerPoint.com/en/domains/prices/.

Disputes

A domain name may be involved in one of several types of disputes. Some of these are:

  1. A pending Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceeding;
  2. A pending Uniform Rapid Suspension proceeding;
  3. A pending Transfer Dispute Resolution Policy;
  4. A court order.

If a domain name is involved in any of these, then a domain transfer is prohibited until the dispute is cleared.
