Multi-homed BGP network
ServerPoint is one of the few web hosting companies worldwide that operates its own global network. We are connected to major networks such as Cogent, Zayo, NTT, and others, collectively handling the majority of Internet traffic.
Top tier data center design
Professional infrastructure design and engineering
Designing and building Internet infrastructures is what we have been doing since the late 20th century. It has allowed us to gather the experience necessary to build ColossusCloud, as well as our network and data center designs.
Then, we choose some of the best data center facilities around the world; the same facilities that also host parts of the big players, such as AWS, Google and Azure.
We are making sure everything at ServerPoint just simply runs efficiently and that our service is top grade.
Frequently
asked questions
Why these prices are so low compared to the big players?
The few major cloud providers haven't lowered their prices in years, despite the decreasing costs of hardware, bandwidth, and data center space. We have adjusted our prices to reflect these reductions and are currently testing these new price levels.
At these prices, are these virtual servers merely for hobby and experimentation, or do they offer production-quality performance?
They are production-grade, meaning they run on powerful and reliable servers with complete power and network redundancy at every level of our infrastructure.
Can I install Kubernetes, Docker, Proxmox, or SolusVM on them?
Yes, you can. Our virtual servers support nested virtualization, enabling any of these software platforms to fully utilize hardware virtualization.
Which CPUs are used in your hypervisors?
Virtual servers running on high-frequency CPUs are hosted on servers powered by Intel's Xeon Gold processors, while the others are hosted on Intel's E5v4 CPUs, such as the E5-2680v4 or E5-2699A v4 processors.
How do backups work on the ColossusCloud platform?
When you sign up for a backup plan, our platform will perform an initial full backup of your virtual server. After that, it will carry out incremental backups of the entire disk. These backups are available anytime, allowing you to restore your virtual server to a previous state. You can also perform one-time backups and save them as templates, which can be used to deploy new virtual servers.
Is RAM usage shared or dedicated?
Our platform is built on KVM, the fastest hypervisor technology available. With KVM, all RAM is dedicated, ensuring that your server can always utilize the full amount of RAM you are paying for, with no risk of resource contention.
How fast is my network connection?
All virtual servers come with a full 1gbps network port, and in some cases, we can create virtual servers with even larger capacities. However, how 'fast' your connection 'feels' largely depends on network latency, which is mostly influenced by distance. For optimal performance, please deploy a virtual server closest to you or your clients. Also, it is highly unlikely that you can get a single data stream at up to 1gbps, unless network latency to/from the destination server is very low.
Will my virtual servers experience CPU steal?
We ensure that the CPU usage in our hypervisors does not exceed approximately 30% across all cores, leaving ample CPU capacity available for when your virtual server's CPU usage bursts or peaks.
How about disk I/O and speed?
Your virtual server's disk operates on our fast Ceph clusters, fully powered by solid-state disks. All of your data is replicated across multiple disks and storage hosts, ensuring uptime even if a disk or storage host fails.
What about bad neighbors?
We know that is a problem very common in other providers, where other virtual servers exceed their usage of resources and affects other customers hosted in the same hypervisor. At ServerPoint, we automatically throttle excessive usage of other clients in order to prevent your virtual servers from being affected.
