Dallas dedicated servers at bargain prices: Intel Xeon E5 v4 and Xeon Gold

By ServerPoint's Team ·

We’ve added dedicated servers in Dallas at lower price points than our previous models. If you need bare metal performance without the cloud markup, these are worth a look.

The hardware

We’re offering two processor families in Dallas:

Intel Xeon E5 v4 (Broadwell): These are single-socket servers with proven enterprise CPUs. The E5 v4 line has been the workhorse of data centers for years. You get 14-28 vCPUs (depending on the specific model), DDR4 RAM, and SSD primary storage. These are the “bargain” tier: solid, reliable hardware at aggressive pricing. Good for web hosting, databases, file servers, VPN endpoints, and workloads where raw CPU clock speed isn’t the bottleneck.

Intel Xeon Gold (Scalable): The higher-performance option. Xeon Gold CPUs run at higher clock speeds with newer microarchitecture, so they process each instruction faster. Available in single and dual socket configurations. Dual socket gives you twice the cores, twice the memory channels, and significantly more RAM capacity. These come with SSD or NVMe storage options. NVMe connects directly to the CPU over PCIe, bypassing the traditional SATA/SAS controller, which means dramatically faster random I/O (useful for databases, virtual machine hosts, and I/O-heavy applications).

Storage and RAID

Both tiers use enterprise SSDs as primary storage. The Xeon Gold models optionally support NVMe for workloads that need the fastest possible disk I/O.

RAID is available on models equipped with LSI MegaRAID (Avago/Broadcom) controllers. These controllers include write-back cache with battery backup (BBU), so your applications get acknowledged writes at cache speed while the controller flushes to SSD in the background. For databases and transaction-heavy workloads, this can dramatically improve write performance. We support RAID0, RAID1, RAID5, RAID6, and RAID10 configurations depending on the number of drives in your server.

Automated deployment

Order from the Client Portal and your dedicated server is usually ready in under an hour. The system handles hardware allocation, OS installation, network configuration, and credential delivery automatically.

Operating system options

You can install virtually any OS:

Linux: AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, Debian, CentOS Stream. Great for web servers, Docker/Kubernetes hosts, database servers, and application backends.

Windows: Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025 (with TPM support on physical hardware). We’re a licensed Microsoft partner, so licensing is included.

Custom ISOs: We can load Proxmox VE (for running your own VMs), VMware ESXi, OPNsense or pfSense (for firewalls/routers), FreeNAS/TrueNAS (for storage servers), and Unraid. If you have a specific ISO, ask and we’ll likely be able to accommodate it.

Why Dallas

Our Dallas data center is at Infomart Dallas, one of the most connected facilities in the South Central US. The building is now operated by Equinix and is home to over 8,700 fiber strands, approximately 60 unique carrier networks, and direct connections to AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure. It’s been a major internet exchange and carrier hotel since the 1980s.

Geographically, Dallas is well-positioned for serving the entire continental US. It sits roughly in the middle, with low latency to the East Coast, West Coast, and all of the southern states. For a dedicated server that needs to serve national US traffic, Dallas is often a better choice than a coastal city because latency is more evenly distributed.

Dallas also has competitive power costs compared to coastal data center markets like Northern Virginia or Silicon Valley, which is part of why we can offer these servers at lower prices.

Common use cases

  • Web hosting and cPanel/WHM: Run a hosting business on a dedicated server with SSD storage and plenty of CPU
  • Database servers: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server with RAID-backed SSD or NVMe for fast, reliable I/O
  • Virtualization hosts: Run Proxmox or VMware ESXi to host your own VMs on bare metal
  • Game servers: Minecraft, ARK, Rust, and other game servers benefit from dedicated CPU and low-latency networking
  • Backup and disaster recovery: Use Dallas as a secondary site if your primary infrastructure is on the coast
  • Development and testing: Affordable bare metal for CI/CD pipelines, staging environments, and load testing
