Ubuntu is the most popular Linux distribution for servers, and it’s one of the most-deployed operating systems on our VPS hosting platform. We always carry the latest Ubuntu LTS (Long Term Support) release, and we keep previous LTS versions available for compatibility.
Why Ubuntu LTS for VPS hosting
LTS releases get security updates and bug fixes for five years. That means you’re not forced to upgrade every six months like you would with non-LTS releases. For production Linux VPS hosting, that stability matters. You deploy your server, set up your application, and it keeps getting security patches for years without requiring an OS migration.
Ubuntu also has the largest ecosystem of packages and documentation of any Linux distro. Whatever you need to install (Docker, Nginx, PostgreSQL, Node.js, Python, Go), the instructions exist for Ubuntu and the packages are usually up to date.
What Ubuntu versions we offer
We keep multiple Ubuntu LTS versions available so you can deploy the one your application is tested on. As new LTS releases come out, we add them within weeks. We’ve offered Ubuntu on our platform for over a decade and we keep older versions available as long as they’re within their support window.
We also offer other Linux VPS distributions: AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, and Debian. If you’re not sure which distro to use, Ubuntu LTS is a safe default for most workloads.
