We run six data centers around the world – and one of them is in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. It’s been live since December 2015 and it’s a big part of how we serve VPS hosting and web hosting to European customers.
Where it sits
The Amsterdam facility is inside Interxion, one of Europe’s major data center operators. From there we run ColossusCloud VPS hosting and our cloud web hosting. The building itself is what you’d expect from a serious facility: high security, 24/7 staff, biometrics, and strict access controls. Google and Microsoft also run infrastructure in the same campus, which says something about the location and connectivity.
Why Amsterdam for VPS and web hosting?
Amsterdam is one of the world’s biggest internet exchange points – only Germany handles more traffic in Europe. That means great peering and low latency for visitors across the continent. If your users are in Europe, VPS hosting or web hosting in Amsterdam can give them a faster experience than a server on the other side of the ocean.
What you can run there
From our Amsterdam data center you get the same options as in our other regions: Linux or Windows VPS, with SSD storage and the ability to scale CPU and RAM. We’ve had the location since 2015, so the stack is mature and the network is well connected. A lot of customers use it for EU-facing apps, websites, and APIs where latency to Europe matters. If you care about keeping data in the EU, hosting in Amsterdam is a straightforward way to do it.
So whether you need a single virtual server for a side project or many VPS instances for a growing business, our Amsterdam data center is there for European reach. You can deploy a VPS in Amsterdam from the portal and get going in minutes.
