Microsoft also optimized Windows 10 for virtualization. Compared to Windows 7 (which we used to offer), it uses less RAM and CPU for the same tasks. Our updated Windows 10 templates are lean: they boot fast and leave more resources for your applications. That means you can get away with a smaller VPS size for the same workload.
Windows Server is still the better choice for server workloads like IIS, SQL Server, or Active Directory. But for remote desktop use cases, Windows 10 is often the simpler option.
